Clean Music Finder (clean-music.org) is a reference site for finding clean, family-friendly music. It has no accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter, and no forms. There is nothing here for you to fill in, so there is nothing for us to store about you directly. This page explains the one thing that is not that simple: the third-party services the site loads in your browser.
Nothing you type, because there is nowhere to type anything. We do not ask for your name, email address, age, school, or location. We do not run accounts, and we do not sell, rent, or share data about visitors with anyone.
We use Google Analytics to see which pages get visited and roughly where visitors arrive from. It reports on traffic in aggregate — how many people opened a page, which search brought them, which country they were in — and we use it only to decide which pages are worth working on.
It does not run unless you agree to it. On your first visit a banner asks, and nothing from Google Analytics is loaded until you choose Accept — decline and the script is never fetched at all, rather than loaded and told to behave. Your answer is remembered in your own browser so you are not asked again.
When it is switched on, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and receives your IP address. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and this site runs no advertising. Clearing your site data for clean-music.org resets the choice and you will be asked again next time.
Song pages can play a lyric video without leaving the site. Those players are embedded through youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which does not set viewing cookies until someone actually presses play. Loading or reading a page does not hand YouTube anything on its own.
Once you do play a video, YouTube receives the request and applies its own privacy policy, which we do not control. Where we do not already know the video for a song, the play button instead opens a YouTube search in a new tab — that is ordinary youtube.com, and YouTube's own terms apply from the moment you arrive.
Artist and album artwork is served from Spotify's image CDN rather than copied onto this site, so your browser requests those files from Spotify and Spotify sees that request. No account information is involved, and this site does not connect to your Spotify account or read anything from it.
This site is built for teachers, parents, and event planners who are choosing music for young audiences. It is written for the adult doing the choosing, not for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — children included. There is no mechanism here that could collect it: no account, no profile, no form.
Because children may nonetheless read these pages, we route video embeds through YouTube's no-cookie host so that simply opening a page does not start tracking a young visitor. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information through this site, please write to us and we will look into it and delete whatever we find.
Declining on the banner is the simplest one, and it is a real decline: the analytics script is never requested. Blocking cookies for clean-music.org, using your browser's private mode, or running an extension that blocks trackers all work too, and none of them affect what you came here to read — the song lists and their explanations are plain pages either way.
If the services this site loads change — if advertising is ever added, for instance — this page will be updated and the date at the top will change with it. We will not quietly start collecting something and leave this page saying otherwise.
